Stop putting Hunger Games on hold and go get your own dang copy!!

I am just kidding.  You can put the books on hold.  But, BE WARNED: There are 96 holds on the Hunger Games, 137 holds on Catching fire and 67 on Mockingjay.  And also BE WARNED: I hear the movie doesn't live up to the book.  Now isn't THAT just a big suprise?!

Colorado Teen Lit Conference

Was yesterday (March 31) in Denver.  Pictured below are Alex, Elana, Josh, Stella, and Esther.  They all either work at BPL or are part of the Boulder Teen Advisory Board.  They were all there.

Maggie Stiefvater was the keynote speaker.  Here is a picture of her playing the guitar:

I wanted to post a picture of her playing the bagpipes, which she did a the conference.
Her main message was this: Be proud of being weird. If you think people think that you are weird, they will think you are weird.  If you don't care, people won't care either.  Treat your weirdness like a super-power.  Everyone really liked her.  But I still can't get past the fact that her latest book is about carnivorous water horses that emerge from the sea.

I haven't read it, so I can't say anything about it.
But the point is: she was really great.

Feb. Teen Art Gallery: Angevine Middle School

As Pablo Picasso said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Angevine’s  7th and 8th grade art students will be showing  how they are keeping the “child artist” inside them as they grow toward adulthood. In their “Chalk Pastel Landscape,” drawings 7th and 8th graders express themselves through the playful use of line, shape, color, space and perspective.
Exibit will run through February.
